Residence and work permits

Foreign citizens who want to live and work in Montenegro are required to obtain permits from the competent authorities. Here, first of all, he thinks about obtaining a residence permit and obtaining a work permit.

A residence permit is a requirement for obtaining a work permit. When a foreign citizen receives a work permit, that person can be employed in companies in Montenegro (establishing an employment relationship with a domestic employer) or be self-employed.

The residence permit is issued by the Ministry of the Interior, actually by the police station in the place where the foreign citizen wants to reside. The work permit is issued by the National Employment Service, through its branches in cities throughout Montenegro.
